Habitat for Humanity, ACC help kick off APS Program

June 10, 2015

After living in a trailer for most of their lives, the Gil family received help from volunteers to build a “green” house that quickly became their new home. Volunteers came together to help Luz Gil and her three children build their home on land donated by the city of Peoria to kick off the APS Solar Assist Program.

Habitat for Humanity lent a helping hand, and along with the Voluntary Solar Contribution Program of the Arizona Corporation Commission, the Gil family now has solar panels on their roof to help reduce the use of fossil fuels.

Visit Mixed Voces to read more about the story of how the Gil family went from living in a cramped trailer to having a new home with solar panels.
