St. Joseph’s Hospital Continues Outreach in Spanish-language Media
UC continued to support St. Joseph’s efforts to raise awareness and educate the Hispanic community on safety and health topics. This campaign, launched in January, is an extension to their previous Safety Campaign rolled out in August 2008. A range of health topics from Alzheimers, Child Obesity, Stroke Prevention, Child and Passenger Safety, Diabetes, Healthy Nutrition, Women’s wellness were featuring St. Joe’s health experts and doctors on radio, TV and print — Prensa Hispana, La Voz, KPHE-Ch. 44, and Radio Fiesta’s “Hogar Dulce Hogar” community morning program. UC also helped to facilitate the hospital’s involvement in Telemundo’s first annual Children’s Health Fair held in late April where more than 3,000 families and kids attended this event held at Christown Spectrum Mall.
Additionally, the hospital has made great strides to support international patients needs with the addition of a new International Patient Coordinator. Francisco Estrada, who joined the hospital earlier this year, will play a key role in providing support for international patients and their families. UC facilitated the introduction of Francisco into the Hispanic community through TV appearance on Telemundo’s Community Affairs show.
