According to the National Congress of American Indians – the oldest, largest, and most representative American Indian and Alaska Native organization serving the broad interests of tribal governments and communities – the American Indian and Alaska Natives populations are at a higher risk of being missed in the decennial Census. In the 2010 Census, American Indians and Alaska Natives living on reservations or in Native villages were undercounted by an estimated 4.9 percent, more than double the undercount rate of the next population group.
Urias Communications is working closely with the Phoenix Indian Center, in partnership with several American Indian non-profit agencies, to launch a statewide message to encourage the undercounted community to complete the 2020 Census. Outdoor boards will be popping up around the Valley and state, along with a targeted digital and PR campaign. For more information, visit the Phoenix Indian Center’s Census page here.
